Woody Allen's Streetcar Named Blue Jasmine

Yes, Woody Allen's Streetcar Named Blue Jasmine .. The movie is a masterpiece and one of the best films I've seen in years .. Saw it last night and just loved it .. Allen plays "Homage" to America's Greatest Playwriter Tennessee Williams "Streetcar Named Desire" set in the deep South of New Orleans Louisiana .. Not Blue Jasmine which is set in San Francisco with many flashback scenes set in New York (Manhattan) and The Hamptons ... Kate Blanchett is the lead cahracter much like Williams Blanche DeBois in Streetcar . Blanchett is Jasmine French a tragic character it turns out who like Blacnhe fancied herself stylish, sophisticated and elegant and of the privelaged society .. Unlike Blanche, Jasmine (Blanchett) was "Rich" but then fell down to next to poverty, which is a even harder blow to women like this .. Jasmine was rich and savored in it, but her world came crumbling down when here cheating husband says he's in love with another women .. Then he's arrested for a number of Ponzy Schemes alla Bernie Madoff .. Her husband is sent to prison where he hangs himself, and Jasmine losses everything and is left pennyless.

She goes to live with her sister to try and pick up the pieces .. It's not easy ...  

As in Streetcar Blanche's sister is married to a crude cave-man like Stanley Kuwalskiplayed by the late great marlon Brando .. In Blue Jasmine, Jasmine's sister doesn't have one crude cave-man but two in her ex-husband Augie, played wonderfully by Andrew Dice Clay (Barvo Dice) and nuber 2 her boyfriend Chili, with another great performance by Bobby Cannavale ..

Well I don't want to give too much away .. See the movie, it's wonderful, another masterpiece for Woody, and possibly an Oscar for Miss Kate Blanchett, an awesome performance ..

PS  I almost forgot. Sally Hawkins was awesome as Jasmine's sister Ginger "Great Performance"
